1  Tbsp.   oregano
1  Pinch cinnamon
Salt and Pepper

– Mix your dry spices (cumin, cayenne pepper, chipotle pepper, ground while pepper, oregano, and cinnamon) and set aside.
– Clean and cut portabellas into roughly 1/4″ cubes.
– Chop and keep separate bell peppers and onions.
– Mince garlic

Heat a large pot over medium heat. Add a small amount of vegetable or olive oil (2-3 Tbsp). Add garlic, onions and bell peppers and saute until the onions are translucent. Add some salt and fresh ground black pepper for flavor (1/8 – 1/4 Tsp.). Stir in salsa verde and let it come to temperature. Add portabellas and dry seasoning mix that you set aside earlier. Cook mushrooms until they give up their liquid. Add in corn and cook until warm. Add in beans and mix them in thoroughly. Stir in tomato sauce. Bring to a slow boil, cover, reduce heat to low and let simmer for an hour.

Massive Grocery List

I’ve put up a grocery list online with my best estimates for what we’ll need for each meal. There are sections for breakfast, snacks, and beverages that need some filling in since I don’t know what everybody likes. Please let me know if you want any changes to the meals. I’ve already gotten two nays on PB&J Wednesday, so we’ve got some negotiating to do. I deviated from Alison’s meal plan a little bit because I was trying to take spoilage into account and biscuits go with sausage gravy, not toast. 😉

Shade Model, with Wookie!

Chewy getting a BloodyMaryland at the cantina

Let me show you Sean’s plan for building a shade structure. Please excuse the crudity of this model,I didn’t have time to build it to scale or to paint it.

Actually, it is built to scale more or less. The support poles are 12 feet long and the whole structure is about 35 feet long. You can see more pictures at. http://picasaweb.google.com/cubicleescapee/BmShadeModel
I have my opinions on the structure now that I’ve seen it, but I’ll get some comments before I weigh in on the subject.

Evaporator Art Project

I thought I could combine our evaporation pond and my fascination with the New York subway. It may also fit into the theme since it’s a fairly iconic structure. The railing provides a nice structure to hang the evaporator screen from and the handrails act as reservoirs and plumbing. The globe and the sign will be lit for night time visibility. Being fairly two dimensional, it will be easier to pack on the roof of the rv. Depending on what liquids end up in it, it may even recreate the smells of the subway.

Large Hadron Evaporator

evap tower

It was a rainy day so I spent some time surfing for gray water evaporation methods. This is the best one I could find.

http://www.ae-zone.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=greywater

http://eplaya.burningman.com/viewtopic.php?t=12911

They evaporated 30 gallons per day.

I believe the round design with the kiddie pool is too bulky to carry. I’ve got a preliminary design for a linear model which could be rolled up or laid flat for shipping. It could be powered by a dedicated solar panel or the camp windmill or it’s own smaller windmill. It only needs about 40W. It was also suggested to use chlorine pellets like pools use, to disinfect the gray water.

Alison adds: Here’s a video of a similar design.
