Our rideshare pal Steve has a pretty sweet shade structure setup, and so I am posting his photo here so everyone can see. I can tell from our web stats that lots of people are looking for ways to keep out of the sun and cool. Hope this is useful!
Thought I’d share my project with the world in case other burners want advice. This is reposted from Facebook.
HOW I DID THIS:
So, there was this screenprinting ink that came with some kit from Michaels. I bought only the ink with one of the 50% off coupons, as it was about $7 for a tiny bottle. I think the key might be the stamp bit. I took a sheet of that “Foamies” junk and cut out the shape, then glued to a stiff board. It’s still not as nice as I would like. I think I’m going to try to get a fabric pen for touchup. Maybe make a second one and use an Exacto knife to cut out the man in the middle of the crab. This one was done by taking a pin and poking holes in the pattern I wanted.
I bought a couple of fabric pens, which are kinda crap, but they DO work to color in the little man and make him stand out more. If anyone else were to try this, I’d tell them to use a paint brush, as the pens don’t give very nice definition. Also, I’m going to try to be green and use some of Herb’s t-shirts and hit up Yesterday’s Rose for more T’s.
T-shirts were on sale at the thrift store. Only 75 cents a piece!
The DC Burner list posted this fantastic resource today. It shall surely help us find stuff in Reno. Thanks guys!
UPDATE: The latest JRS has some additional listings, complete with Google Maps if you follow the links.

Camp BloodyMaryLand is renting an RV rather than driving one cross-country this year. We may want to use these tips over at Instructables to make it super-sweet!
Our very own BloodyMaryLand Liquid Breakfast is scheduled for Wednesday morning from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.
Also note that Kinetic Cab Company is one of the 2010 Honorarium Art Installations. BloodyMaryLand will be participating in their event, The Great Black Rock City Kinetic Sculpture Race and Treasure Hunt.
Making a quick link for everyone here to save us from digging around the website.

Camp BloodyMaryLand will be between 4:15 and 4:00 on Kyoto.
We’re thinking about building a more sophisticated shade structure for our tent this year so that we can sleep past 8am. Modified hexayurt, anyone?
