Shade Model, with Wookie!

Chewy getting a BloodyMaryland at the cantina

Let me show you Sean’s plan for building a shade structure. Please excuse the crudity of this model,I didn’t have time to build it to scale or to paint it.

Actually, it is built to scale more or less. The support poles are 12 feet long and the whole structure is about 35 feet long. You can see more pictures at. http://picasaweb.google.com/cubicleescapee/BmShadeModel
I have my opinions on the structure now that I’ve seen it, but I’ll get some comments before I weigh in on the subject.

Fuck Yeah! I love a man with time on his hands. Big ups to the engineer.
The wookie is key. He’s like our version of the virtual man they used when designing the Boeing 777 in AutoCAD…

Now that I see it, do you think we need a center spire? I still like the shape, but the canopy might benefit from some tension at the center. Also, bear in mind that we can adjust the tension in various areas (where there is bunching in the model) with the shape and the seams on the actual structure. The rear guy wires COULD be attached directly to the RV instead.

It is a beautiful structure. How do you all envision the camp layout? I’m trying to wrap my head around how we’re going to park the RV’s to minimize wind intrusion and make the bar welcoming AND avoid having the guy wires come down on the street side(trip hazard)…

Perhaps Costume tent(our best wind block) on the left with door facing west, Plan A making the west ‘wall’ and Nappy Weave making the north ‘wall’???
