‘Second Life’ readies for Burning Man

News Flash: ‘Second Life’ readies for Burning Man

I’ve never done the Second Life thing but I’d imagine i’d be a pretty lame substitute for actually Burn attendance (correct me if any of you do partake and I’m wrong).

What would be fascinating would be a serviceable and fairly accurate recreation of the actual event where you could zoom around, see some of the major installations, and observe the camps of friends who did make it to the event and are having a lot more fun than you and your pathetic internet-bound existence.

Okay, so that last part might suck.

But still, I’d give it a gander. Maybe Google Earth is planning a street-level run thru?

What makes a BloodyMaryland Bloody Mary the best?

To get the encapsulated history of the Bloody Mary, consult the wiki. What makes the difference between the run-of-the mill and the BloodyMaryland bloody mary (henceforth “BMbm”)? Why should you traverse the suburbs for liquid refreshment? There is no singular answer.

Love?

Concern for fellow man?

A devotion to craftsmanship?

In the Robert Altman classic, M.A.S.H. (not the eponymous emasculated Alan Alda vehicle, mind you), Trapper John suggests :

“Yes, but a man can’t really savor a martini without an olive, otherwise it just doesn’t quite make it.”

Likewise, if you’re hauling all manor of debris into the desert, why skimp on the requisite constituents for a satisfactory cocktail experience? In the space required for a medium sized cooler of cheap domestic beer, the BloodyMaryland crew stashes that extra mile. We’ve taken that recipe and given it nuance, character, and a hefty dollop of Old Bay seasoning.

Simply put, the BMbm is Bespoke at its finest. We are the Savile Row of morning alcoholism, where your demand for the finest fashion meets the skill and versatility of a professional hand. We individually craft our bloodies to your specifications, taking care to address the individual needs of discerning burners. If you don’t want it, we’ll take it out. If there’s something we could add more of, we’ll do our best. We will slave in the heat to provide you some modicum of cool comfort. When the booze is not flowing, the conversation is.

Look for us in 2008! (we take a year of between burns to recharge the Awesome)

Playa Nite Goggles

I went skydiving last weekend and thought the goggles we used would be perfect for nite on the dusty playa. They’re not tinted and they don’t obscure your peripheral vision like the welder’s variety. Oh, and they’re cheap to boot. Here’s a place that sells them:

You know I’m all about the goggles…

The blog is up and running

Newly decorated, with many pages and content already. The “What to Expect” and “Resources” areas have the most content so far…
